Review by Luke Walton

Over the past few months I have been researching and playing precision basses with the intention of adding one to my ever growing collection. I recently got back in touch with Simon to reboot my lessons to maintain a good standard of playing on the low end. I discussed with Simon my keen interest to buy a precision bass and mentioned I had liked a few models on his website. By the time the kettle was boiled he had brought out the basses we discussed for me to try. I was immediately taken aback by the Bluesville with its stunning ash body and polished finish.

After playing it and hearing the low end boom with that classic precision sound, I knew I was going to treat myself for Christmas. The service Simon provided was second to none. He showed me every ash Bluesville in stock to establish my favourite and he offered to change the scratch plate from white to black upon learning my preference. It was set up perfectly and ready for me to collect within two days of my order. I thought this was very efficient especially during the festive period.

First impressions

The ash body was exquisite and the pearl inlays look fantastic on the Rosewood neck. The finish also looked very professional.

Playability and sound

The first thing I noticed was the powerful low end boom. I know with this bass I wont have a problem being heard. Already it strikes me as being a very versatile guitar from general rock to a punchy slap/pop sound. The frets on the neck have been taken in, so moving my hand up and down feels very smooth. I have had previous problems in the past with basses that were neck heavy, however with this guitar I find it is well balanced.

Cost

I will admit I was a self confessed brand snob, however upon playing the Cassidy guitar range I was convinced to change my ways. The sound the Bluesville generates and the instant presence it provides, the price is generous to say the least.

This guitar can happily hold its own against its competing models and Cassidy Guitars sets the standard for service and price.

The Cassidy Bluesville BVB 361 Bass is my preferred weapon of choice and just beautiful every component carefully selected by Simon Cassidy for perfect quality and balance, sounds amazing with awesome versatility through the two picks ups. It absolutely growls and is the low range heartbeat of the band. With Cassidy you get quality personally assured and just can’t get anywhere else.
