Cassidy CB901 Active 5 String Bass
Looking forward to taking this the Great British Guitar Show in March – expecting a lot of interest from working bass players looking for a high quality and affordable / flexible workhorse.
When we were looking for the ultimate specification for our flagship bass certain features seemed obvious to us.
First we would need the flexibilty and range of 5 strings to cover most styles and preferences.
Then we asked for the responsiveness of an active bass with with 2 band EQ and quality JB style pickups.
Then the sheer beauty and the richness of tone and sustain provided by a 5 piece through body maple / sapele neck.
Well this is what we produced – the Cassidy CB901 5 String Active Bass.
The most notable feature is the beautifully finished 5 piece Maple / Sapele through body plank / I mean neck. Rosewood fretboard with Pearl Inlays and 24 frets at 45mm at the nut up to 68mm as the neck joins the upper horn.
Either side of the body we have single pieces of solid Basswood capped with a 7.5mm Flame Maple Top and the additional fine detail of wafer thin Rosewood strips between all of the joints. The back of the body has a classic concave curve designed for comfort.
Controls include a Master Volume, Blend Control and Active / Passive Switch and Active Controls for the neck and Bridge Pickups.
The strings are anchored on a high mass top loading zinc bridge with individually adjustable saddles all finished in chrome, and tuned at the other end with Korean built 18:1 Tuners finished in Chrome.
You won’t be surprised to hear that this bass is balanced, punchy and produces a very wide palette of sounds to suit most playing styles. And at £495 we think it offers great value for money and achieves our primary objective of affordable quality.
Watch out for demo videos which will be published shortly. In the meantime you can see further details via this link Cassidy CB901 5 String Active Bass.
